I am directed by Secretary Sir John Simon to acknowledge receipt of an extract from a letter on the subject of

smuggling dated the 2nd December, 1932 from Messrs, Butterfield and Swire, Hongkong, to yourselves.

2. The Secretary of State would be glad to learn

whether the statement of fines levied during 1932, referred

to in your letter to the Colonial Office of the 29th

September last, is yet available.
